The all-new Aston Martin DB12 is the successor to the DB11 with an AMG-sourced V8.
Aston Martin has unveiled what they’re calling the ‘world’s first Super Tourer’ with the DB12. This is the successor to the DB11 and it’s powered by an AMG-sourced 4.0L V8 twin-turbo with an output of 680PS and 800Nm of torque – a 34% improvement of the DB11. The DB12 premiers on the same year of Aston Martin’s 110th anniversary and the 75th year of ‘DB’ models. The Aston Martin DB12 goes from 0-110km/h in about 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 325km/h.
The DB12 features a more muscular physique with a wide track and an all-nre front end shape. A new evolution of the Aston Martin wings badge debuts on the DB12.
The new super tourer also features frameless wing mirrors, flush door handles, and a completely redesigned interior. There are two sounds systems available. The 390W 11-speaker audio system or a new 1,170W 15-speaker double amplified surround sound system by Bowers & Wilkins.
The Aston Martin DB12 introduces several performance enhancements and technological advancements. Power is delivered through an 8-speed automatic transmission, along with the Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff), a first for the DB model. Unlike traditional Limited Slip Differentials, the E-Diff can swiftly transition from fully open to 100% locked, providing precise and consistent handling.
The DB12 boasts a bonded aluminum structure that exhibits a 7% increase in global tortional stiffness. The DB12 incorporates intelligent adaptive dampers and key component engineering to deliver class-leading driving dynamics and a broader range of capability. These state-of-the-art dampers offer a 500% increase in force distribution bandwidth, allowing for greater control and refinement across the DB12’s drive mode settings.
To emphasize its Super Tourer capabilities, the DB12 is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tires as the first original equipment application. These tires, marked with ‘AML’ codes, feature a bespoke compound and have been specifically tuned by Aston Martin’s dynamics team to deliver precise steering, excellent grip in wet and dry conditions, and reactive performance.
The Pilot Sport 5 tires also incorporate noise-cancelling polyurethane foam inserts in the carcass, reducing tire noise transmitted to the interior by 20%. This leads to lower noise levels, improved refinement, and enhanced driver comfort.
The Aston Martin DB12 comes standard with 21-inch forged alloy wheels, available in three different designs: Five-Spoke (Gloss Silver), Multi-Spoke (Satin Platinum, Satin Black, and Satin Black Diamond Turned), and Y-Spoke (Satin Bronze, Satin Black, and Satin Black Diamond Turned). These lightweight wheels have been optimized through advanced simulation techniques to remove excess mass, resulting in an 8kg weight reduction compared to the previous 20″ wheels, without compromising aesthetics.
