The all-electric NIO ES6 gets a model change in China.
The first NIO ES6 was shown in 2018 and now, 5 years later we have an all-new ES6 model which brings the latest design language and technology. The NIO ES6 features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system consisting of a 150kW front induction motor and a 210kW rear permanent magnet motor. The total output is 360kW and 700Nm. 0-100km/h takes just 4.5 seconds with strong four-piston fixed caliper brakes that can bring the ES6 down from 100km/h to a standstill in just 34.5m.
The ES6 features an Intelligent Chassis Controller and Continuous Damping Control to make up to 500 damping adjustments per second to real-time road condition analysis. There are 9 driving modes to choose from.
The new NIO ES6 features the company’s “Design for AD” philosophy, which integrates the sensors into its roof in a ‘watchtower’ layout. The Aquila Super Sensing system consists of 33 sensors including LiDAR, front-view cameras and more. The ES6 comes with a Heads-Up Display, Adaptive Driving Beam headlights.
There are ten body colours with four interior themes. A Galaxy Shadow exterior and Warm Gravel interior is the headlining colour combination.

Versus the previous ES6, the new model is 55mm lower to the ground while increasing rear headroom by 75mm. The ES6 features flexible storage options with a 668L three-layer trunk. The rear seats can be folded down to create 1430L. Inside, the ES6 features a double-layer cabin design with use of rattan for sustainability, acoustic fabric on speaker grills and a microfibre headliner.
NIO uses their premium seat platform, allowing up to 20 ways of adjustment for the driver’s seat. This has 9 layers of supporting materials. The upgraded Lounge Seat option has 22-ways of adjustment, zero-gravity position, heating, ventilation, massage functions and three-zone heating for the backrest, seat cushions, leg rests and more. Even the rear row seats are power adjustable seats.
NIO are promising augmented reality features through the optional N-Box which allows it to connect to game consoles, laptops, tablets and more. The company’s Banyan 2.0.0 digital system has over 120 new features and enhancements. This gives the ES6 automatic recharging route planner. The NIO ES6 is available from as low as RMB 298,000 with the monthly Battery-as-a-Service model. You can also get the car with a 75kWh battery at RMB 368,000 or a 100kWh battery at RMB 426,000.
