The Nissan GT-R soldiers for the 2024 model year.
The Nissan GT-R has been Japan’s per-eminent supercar since 2007, only giving the reins over to the Lexus LFA briefly. 15 years is a long time in the automotive industry. When the GT-R first appeared, electric vehicles were nothing but a glimmer in Elon Musk’s eyes. Today the Nissan GT-R soldiers on with a few performance-enhancements and is still nothing to scoff at.
For 2024, the GT-R will be available in three variants – Premium, T-spec and NISMO. All grades have been given more downforce and reduced drag thanks to redesigned front and rear fascias, bumper sides, grille shapes, and rear wing.
Engineers got down to the milimeter, using even thinner mesh on the front grille to ensure the drag coefficient remained at 0.26 Cd despite the increase in downforce.
The GT-R NISMO model specifically has a more dramatic rear wing with swan neck-style supports, a 10% larger surface area, new front lip, rear diffuser and canards. New LED DRLs on the bumper complete the refreshed look of the 2024 GT-R.
The Nissan GT-R T-spec comes with NISMO carbon-ceramic brakes, gold-painted NISMO RAYS 20″ forged wheels, special badges, dark Mori Green upholstery, semi-aniline leather and suede upholstery for the front seats, NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control and wider front fenders. Two exclusive colours from GT-R’s historical palette are available – Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple.
The GT-R NISMO can be optioned with the NISMO Appearance Package which includes a red-trimmed version of the 20″ RAYS forged wheels, a unique clear coat on the carbon fibre hood and an exclusive engine cover design.
There are also many NISMO-exclusive carbon fibre parts including the roof, front and rear fascias, trunk lid, rear wing, side sill covers, and outside mirror housings. Stealth Gray is an exclusive colour option for this spec.
The hand-assembled 3.8L V6 DOHC turbocharged engine, last enhanced in 2020 has been carried forward once again with a titanium exhaust system as standard. Output is 565hp and 633Nm of torque on the Premium and T-Spec. On the NISMO model, it’s 600hp and 652Nm of torque with a front limited-slip differential for the first time. This model also comes with Brembo brakes with larger carbon-ceramic rotors. Also returning is the ATTESA ET-S all-wheel drive system with a variable front-to-rear torque split. The 6-speed DCT transaxle is unchanged as well with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for manual control.
Inside, an 8″ infotainment system is standard with Apple CarPlay as well as data pages and a built-in stop watch. An 11-speaker Bose sound system with Active Noise Cancellation is standard. The GT-R NISMO gets Recaro seats with synthetic suede inserts, red stitching and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.
