The 2024 Renault Clio also now features an Esprit Alpine Version
French carmaker, Renault, had unveiled its new fifth-generation Clio supermini (or hatchback) just a bit over four years ago. Now the brand is giving this hot hatch a facelift to keep it fresh and competitive in the market. While the facelifted car looks good, its front fascia looks… familiar.
Competing against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia and SEAT Ibiza trio in markets like Europe, here in Malaysia it would be competing in the same segment as the Perodua Myvi and Ford Fiesta. The most glaring thing about the facelifted 2024 Renault Clio is the fact that the headlights look similar to the Myvi.
Moreover, the facelift is significant considering the hatchback now has a completely redesigned front with slimmer headlights and a wider grille with a checkerboard pattern. The DRLs also continue below the headlights throughout the bumper. In the rear, the taillights are clear, a refreshing difference from smoky ones in new cars.
Another cool feature from the facelifted 2024 Renault Clio is the fact that the rear diffuser can be had in six different designs depending on the trim level and powertrain option as the car can come with either a hybrid powertrain or just a normal petrol engine and the RS trim is replaced by the Esprit Alpine trim, the new flagship trim.
Renault is also offering five different wheel designs for the facelifted 2024 Renault Clio that goes up to 17 inches. All designs include the brand’s logo and are finished in brushed aluminium. Strangely, only the Esprit Alpine or the Techno trims will feature a shark fin antenna, which should surely be standard by now.
On top of that, the Renault Clio also comes with seven different and stunning colour options including one new option. These are arctic white, platinum gray, black pearl black, iron blue, decir red, valencia orange, and the new tri-coat rafal gray. Overall, the new Renault Clio looks very good on the outside, what about the inside?
The interior is pretty standard for most new cars but Renault uses new sustainable materials throughout the cabin instead of leather and also features no less than 20 advanced driver assistance systems as well as Level 2 partially autonomous driving capabilities which if carried over here in Malaysia, would be a major selling point.
Powering the facelifted 2024 Renault Clio include the 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine making 65hp and 95Nm of torque powering the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or another 1.0 litre turbocharged three-cylinder unit making 90hp and 160Nm of torque paired to a six-speed manual.
The flagship Renault Clio E-Tech runs a Hybrid 145 powertrain, made up of a 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine paired to two electric motors and a 1.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack making 145hp. A diesel option making 100hp and 260Nm of torque will also be made available though probably not in Malaysia.
