This New Kia Concept EV5 Might Go Into Production For Chinese Market

The Kia Concept EV5 was shown for the Chinese market only.

Fresh off of revealing the Kia EV9 production model, Kia has shown the Concept EV5 at a China-specific event. The EV5 is in fact aimed for launch in China only later this year, but Kia hints at the possibility of a global model as well.

Stylistically, the EV5 is very much made to look like a more compact version of the EV9. It features subtle design differences, including a bumper trim line that’s reminiscent of the EV6, but is mostly a very rugged, angular, boxy electric SUV just like it’s bigger brother. No powertrain specs or dimensions were shared.

Being a concept vehicle, Kia still hasn’t had to make compromises on the design, so there are slim digital side mirrors instead regular side mirrors.

Kia’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, which celebrates the fusion of contrasting natural and modern elements, has resulted in the stunning aesthetics of the Concept EV5. Embracing the ‘Bold for Nature’ pillar of the philosophy, the unique SUV boasts a form and stance that supports those seeking a borderless life with no boundary between their appreciation of nature and city life.

The Concept EV5 is a futuristic masterpiece that exudes progressiveness from every angle. While the vehicle’s authentic identity as a member of the Kia family is evident in its new form of Digital Tiger Face, which pays homage to Kia’s famous Tiger Nose grille. The SUV’s unique design features Kia’s signature Star Map lighting technology, which creates a constellation effect connecting stars to a clean face.

The interior of the Concept EV5 is designed to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, providing occupants with a space of coexistence where nature, people, and technology can come together harmoniously.

The flat floor and generous cabin space allow occupants to interact freely with the great outdoors, while the interior color palette, center fascia, and panoramic display offer a calming and pure environment for occupants to relax.

In line with Kia’s commitment to sustainable development, the Concept EV5 features a suite of sustainable materials such as plant-based seaweed extract and upcycled PET bottles on the seats, doors, dashboard, and headliner, setting new standards of sustainability without the use of animal leather.
