0Hyundai Ioniq 6 Debuts In North America With Estimated 547KM Range
Will this be the same version of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 we get here in Malaysia?
The all-new stylish and practical Hyundai Ioniq 6 was inspired by the brand’s Prophecy EV concept and has now made its debut in North America at 2022 AutoMobility Los Angeles and this electrified four-door streamliner will apparently come with 340 miles (547Km) of electric driving range.
The all new Hyundai Ioniq 6 will also supposedly feature best-in-class ultra-fast charging capable of charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. It is also the second Hyundai to ride on the brand’s exclusive Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) allowing for dual motors, more interior space and better performance.
Moreover, Jose Munoz, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor North America, stated, “IONIQ 6 is well-positioned to compete in the EV segment for the millions of shoppers who are interested in transitioning to zero emissions transportation. IONIQ 6 fits the image, efficiency and sportiness that many owners desire. IONIQ 6 and its interior space, battery options, charging speed and all-wheel drive capability will exceed customer expectations.”
SangYup Lee, executive vice president and head of Hyundai Design Center, stated, “We want our cars to always connect with customers on an emotional level.”
“Depending on the owner’s lifestyle, the way of using a vehicle will be different, resulting in a different look – much like chess pieces on a board, each one with a distinct look and functionality, but part of the same family. Hyundai designs with diverse lifestyles in mind rather than with a one-style-fits-all approach.” He added.
On top of that, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 features an 116-inch wheelbase as well as an ultra low drag coefficient of 0.22 thanks to a low nose, active air flaps, wheel gap reducers, elliptical wing-inspired spoiler with winglet, slight boattail structure, separation traps on both sides of the rear bumper, full underbody cover, deflectors and more.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 also features more than 700 Parametric Pixels located in the headlamps, rear combination lamps, front lower sensors, air vent garnishes and a clean and simple centre console, all of which reinforce the Ioniq brand identity.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6’s rear wing has a Parametric Pixel High-Mounted Stop Lamp delivers an eye-catching light execution when the brakes are applied and a re complemented by a newly designed Hyundai ‘H’ badge front and rear as well as either 18-inch or 20-inch machined black wheels depending on the trim level.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 features a 77.4 kWh battery pack with two electric motor layouts, either a single rear motor or both front and rear motors. The top-of-the-line dual motor setup features an all-wheel drive option making 320 horsepower (74 kW front + 165 kW rear) and 604Nm of torque capable of going from 0 to 100km/h in 5 seconds while the single motor layout offers 225 horsepower (168 kW) and 350Nm of torque.
