All-New Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé Debuts

A new generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé has been shown.

Back in June 2022, Mercedes-Benz showed their new generation of the GLC, arguably the company’s new ‘bread and butter’ product since it started to catch up and overtake the C-Class and E-Class in sales in some markets.

Today, the company shows the more stylish GLC Coupé variant. It is rumoured that Mercedes-Benz will be simplifying their expansive product lineup in this new generation of cars, so GLC Coupé fans will be happy to learn it has made the cut.

While Mercedes-Benz are calling this an all-new model, it’s clear that the styling revision is more evolutionary, especially with the exterior.

This looks like the last GLC Coupé with slimmer headlights and taillights, as well as sleeker surfacing work. Inside, the major design shifts shown on the new C-Class have made their way here.

The portrait-oriented screen, soft-squared air cond vents, and ‘melted’ dashboard look are all present here. It’s worth noting that the new GLC Coupé will be available with either the Avantgarde exterior with 18″ light alloy wheels and chrome trim or the AMG Line with an optional black package. This comes with wheels up to 20″ in diameter.

In terms of power, all variants of the GLC Coupé are now equipped with some degree of electrification with 48 volt technology and an integrated starter-generator.

Mild hybrid options include: 2.0L petrol and 2.0L diesel 4-cylinder turbocharged engines in 200, 300, 220d and 300d variants. Each come with an electric motor that adds 23hp and 200Nm of torque. 0-100km/h times range from 6.3 seconds to 8.1 seconds on these models.

Plug-in Hybrid options also use the same 2.0L petrol and diesel 4-cylinder turbocharged engines but in 300e, 400e and 300de variants. The electric motors here add 100kW and 440Nm of torque. A sizeable 31.2kWh battery is fitted for pure electric driving in excess of 110km on a full charge. 0-100km/h ranges from 5.6-6.7 seconds. These models can take 11kW 3 phase AC charging or optional 60 kW DC fast charging, which takes 30 minutes to fully recharge the battery.

Sports suspension is standard with AIRMATIC air suspension available as an option. The new GLC Coupé comes with a 360-degree camera with a digital “transparent bonnet” in off-road mode.

In terms of size, this is still less practical than the standard GLC but it is 31mm longer and 5mm taller than the previous GLC Coupé. It also has a longer wheelbase and longer overhangs. Boot space is up by 45 litres when all seats are up and 90 litres when the rear seats are folded down.
