3rd Gen Porsche Cayenne Facelift Testing Phase Complete, Will Be Shown In Q2 2023

A new Porsche Cayenne model has gone through testing and will be revealed very soon.

The third generation of the Porsche Cayenne has undergone a major overhaul, with updates affecting everything from the powertrain to the design. Porsche’s series manager, Michael Schätzle, calls it “one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche.” The engineers at the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach aimed to balance on-road performance, long-distance comfort, and off-road capability. To achieve this goal, the new Cayenne will feature a semi-active chassis and a highly digitalized display and operating concept with enhanced connectivity.

To make sure that all of these new technologies work perfectly, Porsche subjected the Cayenne to a rigorous testing program. This included both virtual simulations and real-life testing, where the car was put through its paces in various driving conditions, such as urban traffic, country roads, and motorways. The Cayenne was also taken on a global tour, where it was tested in different climate zones, from Asia to Africa, Europe to North America. In total, over four million test kilometers were covered, with prototypes enduring tough off-road tests and high-performance drives on ice tracks and the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

According to Dirk Lersch, who leads the prototype assembly and testing team for the Cayenne, “anyone who purchases a Porsche should know that it can withstand exceptionally high loads – regardless of the surface being driven on.” This is because the Cayenne underwent a simulation of its entire life cycle, with over 200,000 kilometers covered in just a few months. The tests were designed to ensure that the car was ready for anything that a customer might throw at it, whether it’s driving in challenging conditions or just navigating daily traffic.

The new Porsche Cayenne will be unveiled this spring, and if the comprehensive testing program is anything to go by, it’s set to be a top-performing and reliable vehicle. With so many new features, including innovative lighting technology and a highly digitalized display and operating concept, it’s clear that Porsche has put a lot of thought and effort into this overhaul. Whether you’re a fan of the brand or just love powerful and capable SUVs, the new Porsche Cayenne is sure to impress.

Porsche says the global reveal will be in ‘spring’, which could mean any time between March and June 2023. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly it will be brought in for local assembly at the INOKOM grounds.
