So the Chery OMODA 5 is super stylish and super safe too
Some of you may remember when we got to experience a test drive of some Chery Tiggo SUVs a while ago and managed to get a look at the Chery OMODA 5. We predicted that car would be a best seller even though there were no plans to introduce it here yet, now that same car has just secured a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
So for a little bit of context, the OMODA 5 is the first product under the Chery new global series, called OMODA. Also, Chery is a Chinese automaker that is set to reenter the Malaysian market soon as the company did not do so well the first time around in Malaysia back in 2005.
Moreover, the Chery OMODA 5 now managed to earn a full five-star safety rating in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), and we all know that the requirements to achieve all five starts in the Euro NCAP is very difficult as the standards are very rigorous.
Additionally, the Chery OMODA 5 scored highly in the adult occupant, child occupant, vulnerable Road Users and Safety Assist categories. This is because the SUV was built to be user-centric and it focuses on the relentless pursuit of quality. This was very clear in the design and materials used in the car.
What’s more, the success of the Chery OMODA 5 in attaining its perfect rating in the Euro NCAP test is also because Chery always takes into account the key demands of global consumers from the R&D as well as the design stages by asking customers what they want. I witnessed this first hand at the test drive event mentioned earlier.
On top of that, the Chery OMODA 5 has also made great advancements in its body structure, safety configuration and other aspects as well and Chery also carried out adaptive development verification in different environments and road conditions proving it does not just look good, but it is also tough as nails.
The Chery OMODA 5 also performed very well in the Tri-Extreme Tests which were carried out in extreme environments of low temperatures (less than -40°C), as well as high temperatures (nearly 50°C) and even in high altitudes (elevation of 5,200 metres). All this is also part of the reason the car earned a perfect rating.
Furthermore, 78 percent of the body of Chery OMODA 5 is made of high strength steel which is capable of withstanding 1,800 MPa of pressure. The body itself was also meticulously designed and manufactured to maintain its structure in the event of a collision. All this plus the ADAS system in the car make it ultra safe.
What do you guys think of the Chery OMODA 5? Do you want to see it sold in Malaysia sooner rather than later? I sure do.
