If you think the Malaysian car market hasn’t changed, the BYD Atto 3 is proof that it has.
Dealerships have been fundamental to the car buying experience. Even for electric brands like BYD. The company announced an aggressive 40-showroom rollout over the next 2 years when they launched the Atto 3 earlier this month.
Right now, BYD only has one showroom open at TREC, KL. With just the one showroom, the new company has been able to amass quite a number of orders already. Sime Darby Motors today announced that they have collected over 1,000 orders of the all-electric BYD Atto 3 in the first 10 days of order taking.
The BYD TREC showroom (the former Mercedes-Benz TREC City Store) is open daily from Monday – Saturday (9am-5pm) and on Sunday (10am-5pm). There hasn’t been an official opening ceremony for the TREC showroom, but from what we can gather, it has 9,373 square feet of built up area, some display cars and test vehicles. Another BYD Showroom ought to be opened soon at Sime Darby Motors City in Ara Damansara, Selangor.
That’s pretty amazing considering BYD is completely new to the Malaysian market. Plus, electric vehicles are still a very specific niche.
The BYD Atto 3 is available in two variants – Standard Range (RM149,800) and Extended Range (RM167,800).
