The Volkswagen T-Roc R Is Funky But Will It Come To Malaysia?

So this cool looking SUV is confirmed elsewhere, what about Malaysia?

So the all new Volkswagen T-Roc is here with an all new funky and sporty look and it also comes with a new sportier and more aggressive design for the Volkswagen T-Roc R that takes everything you know about the T-Roc and turns it up to 11, but while it was already confirmed for regions like Australia, Malaysia remains unclear.

So what’s the deal with the new Volkswagen T-Roc R then? Will we see this car in Volkswagen dealerships in Malaysia? That remains to be seen however, my personal opinion would be no, most likely not. This is because while the SUV market is booming in Malaysia, there is not much demand for an extremely sporty SUV, even one that looks as stylish and sophisticated as this one.

Malaysia is not as free as other markets like North America as cars cost a fortune here so the average Joe will not even consider certain cars and plus, Volkswagen already has the highly successful and historic Volkswagen Golf R which we covered a while ago and that car already has the hot hatch niche covered so why mess with it?

Powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine putting out 300Ps and 400Nm of torque paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive, this little SUV can hit an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h and hit 100km from a standstill in just 4.9 seconds.

Not to mention the interior is also quite stunning with a whole lot of blue all over in the typical Volkswagen style interior (similar to the Golf R) and it also looks quite spacious despite Volkswagen calling the car a “small SUV,” and I think that the Volkswagen T-Roc R is a very attractive car both inside and out.

Volkswagen T-Roc R

So now we ponder, what if? What if Volkswagen releases the Volkswagen T-Roc R here in Malaysia? While we are almost certain to get a T-Roc, I am still sticking to my guns for the T-Roc R and I am fairly certain we will not be seeing it offered locally, but I hope I am wrong about this.

So what do you think of the Volkswagen T-Roc R? Do you think it will be a huge success if it is sold in Malaysia or do you think people will be more inclined to choose other small SUVs over it?
