Porsche 911 Carrera T Variant Arrives For 992 Generation

Good to see the Porsche 911 Carrera T model is back again.

Back in 2017, Porsche saw the need to introduce a new version of the 911 that focused on driving pleasure for purists. So it introduced a “Touring” model with some performance enhancements that weren’t found on the base 911 Carrera and also made a manual gearbox with shorter ratios available.

For the 992-generation, they’re bringing back this 911 Carrera T variant. A 7-speed manual transmission is standard and the rear seats are deleted (but can be added back in at no cost. An 8-speed PDK is also a no-cost add-on. However, you may want to hang on to the base specifications because it’s about 45kg lighter than a standard 911 Carrera as a result. Other weight saving changes include using a lighter battery and thinner glass.

The Porsche 911 Carrera T comes with PASM Sport Suspension as standard with a 10mm lowered ride height and reduced sound insulation.

Positioned between the standard 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S, the 911 Carrera T gets the 6-cylinder twin turbocharged 3.0L boxer tuned to 385PS and 450Nm of torque. It also gets a mechanical limited slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring. The Sport Chrono Package is also standard. Optionally, rear-axle steering can be added in.

The 911 Carrera T has a top speed of 291km/h regardless of transmission type, but the dual-clutch automatic sprints faster to 100km/h than the manual by about half a second.

Other equipment specific to the Carrera T includes Titanium Grey Carrera S wheels in a staggered set up (20″ in front, 21″ at the rear). It also comes with a GT Sport steering wheel, a Sport Exhaust System with high-gloss black tailpipes and four-way Sport Seats Plus.

Special dark grey accents are found on the interior of the 911 Carrera T with contrasting elements such as optional Lizard Green stripes on the seat centres and on the floor mats. You can also get the stitching in Slate Grey if you think green is a bit shouty.

Other options include Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18-way) or lightweight full bucket seats with Race Tex upholstery. An extended leather interior package is also available.
