While most jail time prisoners are put in a police van or truck, why this nice SUV?
Our ex Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, has been making waves recently and this trend continues as the picture above has raised some questions, mainly because I’m a bit curious as to why our ex premier was transported yesterday in an Inokom Santa Fe.
Let me briefly go through the Inokom Santa Fe first, so this car is basically a rebadged, locally-assembled (CKD) version of the Hyundai 7 seater SUV of the same name.
It was made available with either a 2.2 litre inline 4 diesel engine option or a 2.7 litre V6 petrol engine option and I would assume our ex premiere is using the latter.
The real question in all of this is why? Why be driven away in this Inokom Santa Fe instead of the usual police vehicle? There are a few reasons I can think of, off the top of my head.
First and foremost, this Inokom Santa Fe he was transported in yesterday evening could be bulletproof. It is no secret that many world leaders tend to travel in bulletproof cars for a multitude of reasons and this SUV may well be the most secure vehicle.
The other reason could be that the department of justice accords special unmarked vehicles for prisoners that might have a high security issues.
Then there might be the fact that our ex prime minister might have been shuffled between vehicles to prevent an unwanted incident along the way to his destination in Kajang yesterday evening and this is what was shared on social media.
Either way, one thing is for sure, after this picture made its rounds on the internet, the Inokom Santa Fe, particularly, the one in the picture, is definitely the most famous SUV in Malaysia right now.
