Ford Maverick Gets “Tremor” Off-Road Package In The US

The baby of American pick-up trucks, the Ford Maverick, gets an off-road package called ‘Tremor’.

The Ford Maverick is one of those USDM cars that I feel would do really well in South East Asia. Sure, it’s more lifestyle oriented than the Ranger, but that’s to its advantage. Think about how many people in Malaysia want the image of a pick-up truck without the size and rising price tag. And now, the Maverick has a neat little Tremor Off-Road Package to up the macho-ness for a small increase in price.

The 2022 Maverick Tremor package is available for XLT and Lariat packages, which are some of the higher trim variants of the Maverick in the US. These Mavericks come powered by the 2.0L EcoBoost turbo engine with a new all-wheel drive complete with a twin-clutch rear-drive unit and a differential lock feature.

The Tremor off-road package builds on the FX4 Off-Road Package which includes this advanced drivetrain. It also comes with Trail Control, which is like low-speed cruise control but for off-road use. The front and rear springs and shocks have been changed. They’re now an inch taller for better ground clearance and a more assertive stance. It also gets a heavy-duty transmission cooler and better half-shafts. All of these extras allow the Maverick Tremor to tow a maximum of 907kg and carry a payload of 544kg.

In terms of looks, the new Ford Maverick Tremor has a unique grille finish, blacked-out Ford logos, darkened headlamps and darkened taillamps. The two hooks in the front are finished in Tremor Orange. A Tremor Appearance package is optional and this gives it a Carbonised Grey roof and mirror caps as well as black side graphics on the hood and lower body.

17″ aluminium wheels in Tremor Orange and dark grey anodised finish are included with all-terrain tyres. A new lower front fascia gives it a more aggresive approach angle while steel skid plates are also included for protection.

Inside, the Tremor gets Black Onyx seats with Tremor Orange accents and Tremor logos stitched on. The centre console, register vents and door pools also get finished in this bright accent colour.

The Tremor Off-Road package goes for just under US$3,000 while the Tremor Appearance package comes in at under US$1,500.
