Serena S-Hybrid remains the best selling Family MPV in Malaysia.
Nissan’s distributor and importer of over 60 years, Edaran Tan Chong Motors (ETCM), has just announced the launch of the new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid, now with updated styling and features including Nissan’s new 3600 Safety Shield.
Aside from visual changes, an updated exterior and interior (including exterior colours) and improved Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) levels.
This regional top 5 best selling MPV is also getting a whole host of safety features to help make driving in it smoother and safer for everyone on the road.
Daniel Ho, Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Chong Motor Holdings stated that “Edaran Tan Chong Motor introduced the first Family MPV in 1997 and since then, 4 generations of the Serena have served and met the needs of multiple generations of Malaysian families, providing wonderful moments together.
More than 45,000 units have been sold nationwide to date, and in 2021, it was the best-selling Non-National Mid-size MPV in the country.”
Daniel added, “When we launched the Nissan Serena S-HYBRID, it was among the first hybrid models to be assembled in Malaysia and it is still the only locally-assembled hybrid MPV.
Meanwhile, this new generation of Serena has a very extensive list of features that give it a premium image, without the premium price.
Now, to make it even better value for money, it comes with added safety features and fresh styling in line with the latest Nissan design language.”
With the Serena being as popular as it is, safety features are a must have, especially since it is a family vehicle, so to go along with the new premium feel and hybrid technology to make the vehicle even more efficient, Nissan’s 3600 Safety Shield includes Intelligent Predictive Forward Collision Warning&Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
These systems are in place to improve driver awareness and assist in avoiding collisions. While most of the systems utilize a series of warnings based on radar technology, the system can intervene and apply the brakes by itself should the driver not respond safely to the warnings.
The system also assesses if the driver seems tired and will even suggest that the driver takes a break if the vehicle drifts away from the lane too much. This feature is very useful on longer drives.
