Another day, another New Energy Vehicle gets launched in China
It seems like there is a new New Energy Vehicle (NEV) being released into the Chinese market almost every week.
With dozens of options in every segment and new ones being churned out by the day, the sheer number of options alone could scare potential buyers when trying to choose their next vehicle.
Thus, in a world of endless options, what might one choose if they are simply looking for an inexpensive, simple and practical design? Look no further than the Dayun Yuehu.
Being a company that makes trucks and tractors under the Dayun Auto banner, this brand knows a thing or two about making practical cars.
On 8 July 2022, Dayun Group had officially launched their newest product, The Dayun Yuehu, a small, pure Electric SUV.
With three variants to choose from, this electrifying car starts at RMB67,800 going up to RMB75,800, that translates to a price range of around USD10,100 to 11,300 after subsidies.
If the practicality and simplicity of the vehicle did not sell you on it, perhaps it’s name might. Although the Yuehu does not have an official Chinese name, it’s current name Yuehu, roughly translates to happy tiger.
With dimensions of 3695/1685/1598 mm and a wheelbase of 2410 mm, this Electric SUV is no mammoth, but for the price, it really is a bargain. The standard variant comes equipped with 15-inch aluminium-alloy wheels and the more high-end variants sport slightly larger 16-inch aluminium-alloy wheels.
This Electric SUV also features a futuristic and elegant split headlight design and follows the closed grille design that many electric cars have adopted since a front grille is not necessary for an electric vehicle. The word ‘DAYUN’ is also prominently displayed on the front with the charging port neatly fitted in and almost hidden beneath the wording.
The rear end also has the word ‘DAYUN’ featured above the taillights in the middle region of the SUV. The rear windshield is also painted in black to achieve a two-tone look. The interior also screams “minimalist” with a simple design featuring leather seats and a flat bottom steering wheel.
A beautiful 7-inch LCD screen acts as a digital instrument cluster in this car and it also has an 8-inch central control screen for infotainment and Dayun’s intelligent car system including remote monitoring, remote unlocking, vehicle starting and Bluetooth.
The Dayun Yuehu is powered by a 35kW electric motor capable of 105Nm of torque and a 30.66kWh ternary lithium-ion battery pack with an NDEC range of 300km and a top speed of 100km/h with energy consumption rated at 10.7 kWh per 100km.
For safety, the Yuehu comes with reversing assistance, automatic cruise control, a tire pressure monitor and uphill control assistance and takes 0.9 hours to charge from 20 to 80 percent, while a normal charge on 120v will take 8 hours.
