BMW Malaysia has introduced the new M5 and M5 Competition models.
Besides bringing in the untaxed i4 M50 and the M3 and M4 Competition models, BMW Malaysia are also introducing the latest M5 and M5 Competition models this month. The latest M5 builds on the facelifted 5 Series G30, which was introduced in Malaysia last year.
The M5 and M5 Competition are being introduced with the 50th Anniversary M Emblems as standard for Malaysia. They feature M-specific exterior parts such as the M rear spoiler, 3D rear lights and more. Inside, there’s a 12.3″ touch-enabled Control Display.
Both the M5 and M5 Competition are powered by the 4.4L V8 with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. This engine is tuned to 600hp and 750Nm of torque on the M5. 0-100km/h is taken care of in just 3.4 seconds. The M5 Competition has 25 more horses, cutting its 0-100km/h time by one tenth of a second. The M5 Competition also has a slim finished M Sports exhaust system. The Competition spec also adds new shock absorbers that are made for the M8 Gran Coupé, a retuned chassis, a lower stance (by 7mm) and other tweaks to the suspension and springs. The M5 Competition also includes the M Drivers Package, which increases the top speed from 250km/h to 305km/h.
The M5 retains is 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and M xDrive all-wheel drive with a 2WD setting for those who want all power sent to the rear wheels.
In terms of pricing, the BMW M5 is available for RM998,800 while the BMW M5 Competition is priced at RM1,188,800. These are the most expensive M vehicles BMW Malaysia have introduced this year in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the BMW M brand.
