Hyundai and Kia continue their assault of the large SUV segment with a new Palisade and Telluride.
It wasn’t so long ago when Hyundai Motor Group decided to build really competitive and alluring large vehicles. The 2018 Hyundai Palisade and 2019 Kia Telluride both proved that the South Korean car conglomerate had what it took to bring the fight to long established names like Toyota, GM and Ford in this mostly American segment. The large family SUV segment was quite quickly penetrated by both Hyundai and Kia with these two entries that share similar ‘bones’.
However, 2 years in the automotive industry can seem like a lifetime even with the constant supply shortages. Obviously, both Kia and Hyundai have been working on mid-lifecycle updates for these models to keep them competitive for the next wave of product updates. What was a little surprising to us was that both car companies decided to tease their facelifted large SUVs in very similar ways and at around the same time.
The new Hyundai Palisade and new Kia Telluride will both be fully revealed on the 13th of April 2022. This will be done on the Hyundai USA YouTube channel for the Palisade and the new Telluride will be premiered on the Kia.com website and at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre in New York.
Very little is known about either facelifted car. The 2023 Hyundai Palisade will feature a wide cascading grille with rugged parametric shield elements, a new front lighting signature, vertically-connected LED composite lights, new alloy wheels and more. The 2023 Kia Telluride, on the other hand, will also get new design elements, trim choices, a new X-Pro variant, and more. It’s also pretty clear that there’ll be the new Kia logo featured on the new Telluride, as well as a new dashboard.
The current Hyundai Palisade is already on sale here in Malaysia and it’s likely to be renewed when the facelift models become available.
Here are the press releases with more.
