The next generation Lexus NX F-Sport is set to rock the Malaysian market. Order books are open.
The premium compact SUV market will be receiving some very stiff competition soon as Lexus Malaysia aims to introduce the all-new NX in the coming weeks.
The all-new Lexus NX was globally debuted in the middle of 2021 and has been in very high demand around the world. Lexus Malaysia will be introducing two specifications of the new Lexus NX – the Lexus NX 250 Luxury and the Lexus NX 350 F-Sport.
The Lexus NX 250 Luxury is powered by the now-familiar 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-banger that powers the Lexus ES 250. It produces 204 hp at 6,600rpm and 243Nm of torque between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm.
The Lexus NX 350 F-Sport is where most of the action happens. This thing comes with a 2.4-litre turbocharged 4 cylinder with 275 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 430Nm of torque between 1,700 rpm and 3,600 rpm.
Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic, with a slight bias towards the front wheels. The transmission uses a camera to scan the road ahead and determine the best shift pattern using AI shift control.
The new NX is built on the GA-K platform, which makes it 30% more rigid than the outgoing model thanks to laser peening welding, high-rigidity foam material, and twin bonnet lock construction.
A true highlight of this new Lexus NX is the design. It’s a much more purposeful and upmarket SUV with a bolder spindle grille and other familiar Lexus design elements being enhanced. The F-Sport variant will have its own sporty highlights to help distinguish it from the Luxury model.
Inside, Lexus has simplified the interior, cutting down the number of physical buttons from 78 in the last NX to just 45. Context sensitive buttons on the steering wheel have been introduced and tactile responsiveness has been enhanced. A 14″ touchscreen has been introduced as well with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.
Lexus are also introducing 64 colour ambient lighting for the interior with 14 pre-defined sets. Also new is the e-latch door opener, which activates a mechanism that swings the door open in one motion rather than needing the door handled to be pushed first and then a separate motion for the door to be swung open.
In terms of safety, the Lexus Safety System Plus package is standard, bringing a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with stop and go function, as well as a Adaptive High Beam System. Road Sign Assist, a Panoramic View Monitor and Parking Brake Support are all included as well.
8 exterior colours will be available for the NX with new Sonic Chrome. The F-Sport variant gets two exclusive colours. Interiors are Dark Rose or Hazel in the Luxury variant and Black or Flare Red in the F-Sport.
The pricing is as follows:
Lexus NX 250 Luxury – RM370,888
Lexus NX 350 F-Sport – RM389,888
