Mercedes-Benz S580e Gets Finalised Pricing And Specifications For Malaysian Market

The Mercedes-Benz S580e gets detailed and priced for the Malaysian market.

More than 2 months after first showing the W223 S-Class in Malaysia, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has now revealed the vehicle’s full specifications and pricing. The 7th generation S-Class will be available in Malaysia, locally-assembled in the plug-in hybrid S580e variant for RM698,744. While a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) S-Class is not new to Malaysia, this will be the first S-Class since the turn of the millennium to be offered with an inline 6 petrol engine here. Even the outgoing S560e was paired to a V6 motor. The new S580e’s 3-litre turbocharged inline 6 produces 367PS and 500Nm of torque and this is paired to an electric motor with 150PS and 440Nm of torque. The resulting output is 510PS and 750Nm of torque, making it the most powerful 4-door vehicles to be sold by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia without an AMG badge.

The Mercedes-Benz S580e gets from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. When fully-charged, it should be able to return up to 100km of pure electric driving. It is worth noting that the S580e cannot accept DC Fast Charging in Malaysia as it is not equipped with the required CCS port, but an 11kW AC charger should be able to top the battery up to 80% in under 150 minutes. The car is also fitted with Airmatic air suspension.
