Maserati is giving their V8 models a special Maserati Corse, or MC Edition.
Maserati is eager to get into the game of making special edition vehicles, as new models are costly to develop. Their latest to be shown is the new MC Edition, which stands for Maserati Corse. Apparently, it celebrates the brand’s uncompromising performance and racing spirit and will be available only for their V8 models. Except in China, where it will be available on the V6 models as a… compromise.
The Maserati Ghibli V8, Maserati Levante V8 and the Maserati Quattroporte V8 will all get this new MC Edition in two exclusive colours – Giallo Corse and Blu Vittoria. Giallo Corse is a bright yellow shade consisting of three layers with a little blue mica interfering with the light while Blu Vittoria is a sort of dark blue-grey or slate colour consisting of three matte layers. Both look very enticing.
Apparently, yellow and blue are also the colours of the city of Modena, the home of Maserati. Besides the new paint job, these MC Editions also get a few extra details in Piano Black. These include a specific badge on the rear fender and on the B-pillar. The Levante MC Edition gets 22″ wheels while the two sedans get 21″ specially designed rims, all in gloss black with blue brake callipers to complete the exterior look.
Inside, the MC Edition cars get blue carbon fibre components, yellow and blue stitching on the seats, natural Nero Pienofiore black leather with denim accents, and MC Edition logos on the headrests with a dedicated badge on the centre of the console.
All of these MC Edition cars also get an electronic sunroof, a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System and a Driver Assistance package.
Here’s the press release with some additional information about the MC Editions.
PRESS RELEASE
MC stands for Maserati Corse: a sporty nature, fostered on the track for everyday competition. The new MC Edition celebrates Maserati’s uncompromising performance and racing spirit.
Victories, trophies, legendary cars and drivers: the world of racing immediately comes to mind when thinking of the Trident Brand, here paying tribute to its glorious history. The focus is on the versions equipped with a V8* engine to highlight the concept of “uncompromising driving pleasure”: the most powerful Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte become the stars of a new edition with a captivating aesthetic.
MC Edition epitomises performance, orientation towards victory and bold driving pleasure, echoing a story that began almost 96 years ago when the Tipo 26 – the first model to bear the Trident on the bonnet – won the 1,500 cc class at the Targa Florio with Alfieri Maserati at the wheel.
The exterior clearly recalls the Brand’s roots, with its exclusive colours and powerful sporty character.
Unprecedented performance and driving pleasure require an uncompromising visual impact: taking Maserati’s roots as a starting point, MC Edition creates a perfect “racing style” and celebrates the power rooted in the beating heart of racing and the DNA devoted to the competitions typical of the Motor Valley.
