The Chevrolet Blazer gets updated looks and equipment in the US and other markets.
It has been a while since the Chevrolet brand left Malaysia and sometimes we find ourselves missing some of the products that the General Motors subsidiary brought to the Malaysia market. One product that never quite made it to our shores though, was the Blazer. That’s because the Blazer was one of those big, body-on-frame SUVs that never quite suited the Malaysian market. And when Chevrolet decided to revive the Blazer name as a more conventional CR-V/RAV4 competitor in 2019, the brand had already been long gone from our market.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t admire the Blazer from afar. We’ve just learnt that this mid-sized SUV will be facelifted for the 2023 and it actually looks a little better than it did before. Most American publications indicate that the changes are pretty minor, but perhaps not being too familiar with the 2019 model, seeing the 2023 model for the first time had a bigger impact on me.
The new look comes thanks to a new front fascia, composed of a new grille design, new LED headlamps and new LED daytime runnings. The tail end also gets this new modern look with a set of new taillamps running new graphics.
Rim sizes range from 18-21 inches and the Blazer is fitted with a 2.5L or a 3.6L naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. There’s also a 2.0L turbo petrol engine and all models have all-wheel drive as an option.
Inside, this new Chevrolet Blazer has a new 10″ diagonal colour touchscreen for infotainment as standard. This replaces the 8″ unit that came with the Blazer in its previous iteration. They’re expanding other features for American customers such as wireless charging, Adaptive Cruise Control and more. What’s more, Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) will be standard, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam Automatic High Beams.
The Blazer also gets a new Nightshift Blue interior. It’s only available on the Blazer RS model. Yes, ‘RS’ isn’t just a Honda thing, apparently.
