Honda Civic Challenges Audi, BMW And Volkswagen

This new Civic was engineered to move into premium car territory.

The product designers in Honda Japan were tasked to look at new vehicle segments to challenge and they did just that with this 11th generation of the Civic. They went upwards to the premium segment.

Bringing high quality materials together with cabin features once reserved for vehicles costing twice as much, Honda has delivered a brand new Civic which will ‘scare’ a new segment of rivals into upgrading their own products, or reducing their prices to make sure this new Civic does not take away some of their customers, year on year.

Walk into the showrooms of any of it’s the abovementioned premium brands and take a good look at their sedan cabins and compare it with this Civics’ cabin (do this on the same day as to not forget) and you will realize how far forward this Civics’ cabin quality and features has moved.

Plus, you must include the passenger space, comfort and versatility to your evaluation to further appreciate this new Civics’ cabin.

Honda has elevated the interior of the All-New Civic by offering customers a refreshing interior design concept. Its focus is on exceptional visibility with an open feeling of spaciousness, achieved through an expanded glass area.

A key highlight of its sophisticated interior space is the Honeycomb Mesh Panel that exudes a premium feel and touch to the overall dashboard layout. The All-New Civic features a new and improved seat design that supports good posture when driving.

The RS variant comes with a Combi Leather Seats with Red Stitching in addition to Red Stitching Leather Steering Wheel, Black Headlining, Sport Pedal and Foot Lamp.

The RS and V variants are equipped with 9-inch Advanced Display Audio with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ Connectivity and 2 Front USB ports. Meanwhile, the 7-inch Interactive Thin Film Transistor (TFT) Meter, 2 Rear USB ports and Smart Clear Wiper are some standard features in the All-New Civic.

The Smart Clear Wiper is a unique feature that is being introduced in a Honda Malaysia’s model line-up for the first time.

The chassis of the All-New Civic has been thoroughly refined to offer better handling and ride comfort. Body rigidity of the 11th Generation All-New Civic has been enhanced compared to current Civic, with an 8% increase of torsional rigidity and 13% increase of bending rigidity.

This enables the model to realise high-rigidity frame for collision safety and improved handling. Besides that, to enhance quietness and ride comfort, Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) has been improved vastly with the application of insulators, floor undercover and spray foam application in the chassis areas.

The All-New Civic comes equipped with a full set of advanced safety technologies that are intuitive and intelligent. The enhanced Honda SENSING also now comes with a new feature – Lead Car Departure Notification System, first equipped in Honda Malaysia’s model line-up. During idle times such as when waiting at a traffic light, the system will alert driver about the departure of the preceding car.

Equipped with the full suite of enhanced Honda SENSING safety features, the All-New Civic is a model with the most complete set of safety features in the C-segment.

The safety features in the All-New Civic’s Honda SENSING are as below:

The Honda SENSING feature in the All-New Civic has been enhanced with improved functionality to offer a more natural system intervention. The All-New Civic receives improved function of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), which slowly decelerates by detecting the brake and indicator lamp of a vehicle ahead and slowly accelerates by controlling acceleration linked with driver operation.

Another function improvement in the Honda SENSING is Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) which enables a natural and smooth steering operation during turn-in and out as well as corrective steering assist in environment such as cross winds and wind pressure beside bigger vehicles.

Other safety features included in the All-New Civic are Honda LaneWatch, Six Airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Auto Brake Hold (ABH).

Two new safety features for the All-New Civic are the Rear Seat Belt Reminder and Driver Attention Monitor. Meanwhile other advanced features are Walk Away Auto Lock and Remote Engine Start comes standard across all variants.

The All-New Civic is the third Honda Malaysia model to feature Honda’s latest innovative and advanced Honda CONNECT technology. Applying smart Telematics Technology, Honda CONNECT embodies Honda’s vision of value creation for mobility and improvement of daily lives with an intelligent information platform that provides multiple benefits of Safety, Security and Convenience.

The All-New Civic owners will be able to enjoy the Telematics system for the first time, which allows users to connect with their cars with a touch of their fingertips via a smartphone application.

Key functions of the Telematics technology in Honda CONNECT include Vehicle Diagnostics, Remote Applications, Security Applications, Vehicle Tracking and Support Services, which are all targeted to provide peace of mind and ease accessibility to the vehicle’s information. Additionally, it is fun to use and brings out the pride and Joy of owning a Honda car.

The price for the E variant is RM125,634.64, while the V variant is priced at RM138,043.36. Honda customers can own the RS variant at the price of RM144,350.09.

With the launch of this exciting new model, Honda Malaysia targets to sell 900 units per month. Ignite Red Metallic and Meteoroid Gray Metallic are the two new vibrant colours offered in the All-New Civic. Other colour options are Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl.
