The all-new, 4th generation Kia Carnival will be the first new vehicle to be launched by Dinamikjaya Motors.
The Kia brand has undergone a bit of a shuffle in Malaysia during the pandemic. The previous brand guardians, Nasim, have handed over sole distributorship for the Kia brand to Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Bermaz Auto. Now, the Dinamikjaya Motors aim to launch their first Kia vehicle in Malaysia – the all-new, fourth generation Kia Carnival. Order books are scheduled to open on the 3rd of December 2021.
The Kia Carnival is the brand’s flagship minivan with seating for 11. Although not dissimilar to its predecessor in terms of styling, this 4th generation is a huge leap forward in terms of engineering and perceived quality. A lot of the design work has been focused on creating a more futuristic look with SUV-inspired elements.
Mechanical Changes
The new Kia Carnival sits on the all-new N3 platform that is lighter, stronger and quieter than ever before. This is thanks to an increased use of hot-stampled parts and ultra-high-strength steel. Besides that, Kia have also used more sound absorbing and insulating materials for improved road, wind and engine noise suppression.
Aerodynamic improvements to the wheels, front bumper, mirrors and other panels help the new Kia Carnival achieve better fuel economy from the familiar 2.2L turbo diesel 4-cylinder motor with 199horsepower at 3,800rpm and 440Nm of torque from 1,750-2,750rpm. This engine is mated to an 8-speed conventional automatic transmission with an electronic shifter.
Design Changes
The shape of the all-new Kia Carnival changed in subtle but noticeable ways. It now features a shorter front overhang for a longer wheelbase and the base of the A-pillar is moved backwards for a longer hood.
Bold wheel arches and sharp lines give the Carnival a more sculpted appearance overall. A unique island roof design wit blacked out A- and B-pillars create a signature look. The C-pillar completes this look with a chrome fin that extends towards the tailgate with a subtle diamond pattern.
The new ‘Tiger face’ in front extends across the width of the vehicle, integrating with the headlamps. Chrome trim above the grille forms its own character line around the face of the car. The Carnival also features new headlamps ande a new LED daytime running light signature. The face is overall a lot more intricate with more intricate design elements, surfacing work, colour and material use. Around back, the new Carnival features a light bar, a chrome line and a metallic lower skid plate.
Inside, the Carnival gets a refined new cabin with high-gloss black surfaces, a chrome garnish strip and slim metal air vents.
There is seating for up to 11 passengers.
