Want to customise your Benz to your heart’s content? Manufaktur is the new in-house label to look for.
It’s no secret that most premium brands have a dedicated, in-house department in charge of individualised orders. When the brand power is strong enough to attract “money-no-object” customers, it becomes possible to set up a part of the business for customised orders. For BMW, it’s called BMW Individual. For Mercedes-Benz, this programme was called designo in the past. Now though, they’ve refreshed their customisation programme with a new label, “Manufaktur”, which is German for “manufacture”, as you would have probably guessed.
Mercedes-Benz has decided to use this label from their successful “G manufaktur” customisation program for the G Wagon. With Manufactur, customers will gain access to an exclusive selection of special paint finishes in silky matt, high-gloss metallic or non-metallic colours.
Shades like Manufaktur silicon grey uni, found originally on the 300 SL Gullwing can be optioned on any Benz you’re willing to drop serious money on. They’re even making paint colours from the 1980s like Manufacture vintage blue uni available again. These were last seen on models like the W123 and W126 ‘proto’ E-Class and ‘proto’ S-Class.
On the inside, special colour combinations can be optioned. White, pastel yellow or more exclusive colours like Manufactur nut brown, Manufactur truffle brown and Manufactur yatch blue can be combined with black for a two tone look unlike anything available on the showroom floor. These packages can be customised further with embroidered seats featuring the AMG, Maybach or Benz logos.
Mercedes will also give customers the option of completing their headliner entirely with nappa leather. In upper tier Maybach-branded vehicles like the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, you can even option a double-stitched Maybach rhombus on the headliner and more. The thick-pile floor mats will be edged with nappa leather in a contrasting colour, and brand logos will be embroidered on the door sill panels too, should you desire.
Finally, you can even get your cars with surround lighting with animated projection that shoots out animated Mercedes-Benz or Mercedes-Maybach patterns when through and LCD projector under the doors when they’re open.
