The all-new Honda BR-V was launched yesterday in Indonesia by PT Honda Prospect Motor.
At a virtual launch hosted by PT Honda Prospect Motor, the 2nd generation Honda BR-V was given its world premiere. The 7-seater B-segment crossover’s overall design was first teased in Indonesia in May as the Honda N7X Concept. It was very obviously going to be the new BR-V based on its proportions, looks and specs. However, few thought the production model would be ready so quickly with barely any changes made.
The 2nd generation Honda BR-V now gets a lot more technological features, many were completely missing from the outgoing model. This includes:
- Honda Sensing
- Road Departure Mitigation
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Auto High Beam
- Collision Mitigation Braking System
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Lead Car Departure Notification
- Honda LaneWatch
- Remote Engine Start
- Walk-Away Auto Lock
- Smart Entry System
New Honda BR-V Design
The all-new Honda BR-V sports similar proportions to the outgoing model, but is a little cleaner, more upmarket and dynamic looking.
The front grille is large and takes up quite a large area with horizontal slats and the LED headlight units are integrated quite neatly. LED daytime running lights also form part of the front fascia. New 17″ rims with a dual tone finish complete the look.
Around back, there’s a Rear Combi Lamp with LED Light Bars running parallel to the body lines. The license plate has been moved to a lower section of the tailgate and the Honda badge sits at the centre, similar to the design of the new HR-V. There’s a sharkfin antenna and black plastic body cladding, with grey accent pieces on the bumpers and side skirts.
The cockpit gets some new premium appointments. There’s a piece of leather trim with stitching above the glove box. Similar trim seems to be on the door cards as well. The seats are also leather-wrapped and there’s a 1st and 2nd row armrest. 12V power outlets are available in all three rows. The new BR-V comes with 8 bottle holders and the third row of seats can be folded in a 50:50 split. A 4.2″ TFT display is present on the instrument cluster, while a 7″ infotainment system is also present.
Same Honda BR-V Engine, New Gearbox
As before, the new BR-V is powered by a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC in Indonesia. It produces 121PS at 6,600 rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. This tried and tested engine is mated to a new CVT for better emissions and fuel efficiency.
In Indonesia, there is also a manual transmission option. There, the new BR-V will be offered in four trim levels:
