BYD Tang Electric SUV Finally Launched In Norway

BYD Tang has been launched in Norway, the first European passenger car market for the Chinese EV company.

It’s not common yet for Chinese car manufacturers to be seen outside of Asia, so when BYD announced that they’d be selling their Tang in Norway, they got out attention. We’ve been monitoring the situation as it evolved and now they’ve finally got the cars on sale in the Scandinavian market.

The BYD Tang was launched in Norway by its local distributor RSA after the first 100 units arrived in the country. RSA started importing and distributing Suzuki vehicles in Norway in the 1980s before moving on to Isuzu in the 2000s. Since 2019, they’ve shifted focus to Chinese brands including Maxus and now BYD.

They’re offering Norwegian customers an extended 8 year / 160,000km warranty on the Blade Battery that goes into the BYD Tang and they’ve got 43 dealers across the country.

Here’s some information about the BYD Tang.

About the BYD Tang

The pure-electric all-wheel-drive BYD Tang SUV comes with an 86.4kWh Blade Battery, which boasts unparalleled technology, safety and performance. It charges from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes using a DC power output of 110kW. This ‘game-changing’ ultra-safe Blade Battery is so ahead of its competitors that even Tesla is going to use it in upcoming models.

The BYD Tang has a range of 528km in city driving and about 400km of combined highway and city driving. 0-100km/h is done in just 4.6 seconds. Thanks to Brembo disc brakes, stopping is similarly impressive, with a 100km/h-0km/h braking distance of just 36 metres.

Style-wise, BYD’s international design team, led by the renowned designer Wolfgang Egger, has blended European design flair with Eastern heritage to create a powerful, dynamic-looking SUV. The BYD Tang SUV represents a new design era for BYD, combining beauty, emotion and ‘inspiration in nature’. On the inside, the BYD Tang SUV is as practical as it is stylish. With seven seats and cavernous 1,655L interior, the vehicle is equipped with a 12.8-inch rotatable touch screen, DIRAC Live function with 12 loudspeakers, 31-colour ambient lighting, premium ventilated leather seats with heating and position memory, and wireless phone charging capability.
