Renewals can be done either through mySIKAP, myEG or at Pos Malaysia branches nationwide
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has come out with a statement reminding road users to renew their road taxes and driving licences by 30 September. The department affirms that there will be no further extension to the grace period beyond that date.
Additionally, vehicle owners whose road taxes have expired must ensure that their vehicles have valid insurance coverage. They must be able to present their e-cover note to the authorities upon request.
It is paramount that road users have their road taxes and driving licenses renewed by the given deadline as checks on compliance and enforcement by JPJ and PDRM are set to take place from 1 October onwards.
With this announcement, JPJ has urged the public to do renewals online through its mySIKAP portal or strategic partner, myEG. For matters that cannot be performed online, members of the public can book an appointment (online or via phone call) before making their way to JPJ offices nationwide.
JPJ has also confirmed that Pos Malaysia is ready to resume JPJ transactions at its 650 branches nationwide starting 9 August. The department says it will make sure stocks and supplies of licences and road tax documents are sufficient in anticipation of a surge in renewals later.
JPJ had previously granted a 60-day renewal extension for private vehicle owners whose road tax and licence were set to expire between 1 June and 31 July, in light of the nationwide lockdown.
