Lexus NX pictures ahead of its official launch tomorrow.
It would appear that someone at Lexus really wants to show off the second generation NX to the world as soon as possible. That is because just the day before its official debut, a full set of pictures of this all new mid-sized premium crossover has been leaked.
Not to be confused with the set of blurry images obtained by Lexus themselves mistakenly uploading a (since removed) full trailer for the reveal of the NX to YouTube back in February, what has been this time round is instead a detailed and crystal picture gallery of this upcoming crossover.
Giving a detailed look at both the exterior and interior, of (what is most likely to be) the flagship NX350 F Sport AWDvariant.
Kicking off with the outside first and starting up front, Lexus has since elected to eschew its interesting double-tiered headlight signature of old in favour of a simpler single cluster LED unit with the new NX. The massive spindle-style front grille however still remains as prominent as ever on the nose of this premium Japanese crossover, which is painted black and is flanked on either side by aggressive black air intakes on this F Sport trim car here.
The black multi-spoke alloy wheels, as well as the black wing mirror caps and roof rails seen down the side of the new NX are also most likely part of the aesthetic treatment brought on by the F Sport package. Looking past all the black meanwhile, the sleek and sharply creased profile of the new Lexus does nevertheless highlight the fact that it has a rather long snout.
Turning towards the rear of the NX on the other hand, the main design distinction round the rump of this upcoming crossover will be the replacement of the traditional oval logo on the tailgate with the Lexus script now spelt out underneath the new full-width light bar. The Japanese automaker has also given this new model a more prominent number plate cut-out inset into its tailgate, as well as a sleeker rear bumper with a pair of sporty air slits on each side in contrast to the outgoing iteration.
Moving on into its interior, these new images here gives a better look at that positively massive central infotainment touchscreen that dominates the dash layout of this next-gen NX. Slightly angled towards the driver, it is nice to see that Lexus has still kept the temperature controls for the climate settings as physical dials sitting either side on the bottom edge of the touch screen.
These photos here also detail that the new NX will feature the usual premium accoutrements as is to be expected with this type of car, with the sporty red and black upholstery as well as its sports steering wheel most likely reserved for the F Sport trim.
One rather interesting thing to note however is that Lexus has elected to stick with a semi-digital instrument cluster with analogue fuel and temperature gauges, unlike the fancy full screen ones as to be found on its continental rivals.
Now in regards to the spec and powertrain choices available with this next-gen NX, official details are still unfortunately rather thin on the ground at the moment.
It is however expected thought that there will be an NX250 powered by a 2.5-litre four-pot, an NX350h which may borrow the RAV4 Prime’s 302hp PHEV powertrain, as well as this NX350 variant seen here that will feature a 3.5-litre V6 under the hood.
Having said that however, all these speculations will be put to rest in the less than 18 hours (at time of writing) as the full reveal of the new NX is set to take place tomorrow at 12 pm JST. (1 pm Malaysian time). To those interested in watching the launch live for themselves, the link the scheduled live-stream is available here.
