Here are 3 new things on the 2021 Perodua Aruz.
Perodua is a car company known for taking things one step at a time. That philosophy carries through to the latest update of the Perodua Aruz. The Aruz is a 7-seater SUV based on the Toyota Rush. It was launched in Malaysia in 2019. As far as we can tell, the only update it has had since launch was that the Amazon Green colour was dropped.
The Perodua Aruz comes in two variants: X and AV. Here are’s what’s new with this 2021 update:
Both Aruz X and Aruz AV variant:
- Side steps
- speed-sensitive automatic door locks (auto-lock at 20km/h, auto unlock in a collision)
Aruz AV variant:
- Passion Red body colour option
This Passion Red body colour appears to be unique to the Aruz AV. Other Perodua reds go by the following names:
- Myvi and Axia – Lava Red
- Bezza – Garnet Red
- Pearl Delima Red
The Perodua Alza is no longer offered in red.
Prices remain unchanged on these new Aruz models.
Here’s the press release with more.
PRESS RELEASE
Malaysia’s best-selling seven-seater SUV, the Perodua Aruz, has been
updated for 2021, and is now on sale at unchanged prices of RM68,526 for the X variant and RM73,226 for the AV variant, on-the-road before insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.
Both variants now get side steps to ease ingress and egress, plus automatic door-locking above 20 km/h (doors will automatically unlock in the event of a collision). A new Passion Red body colour (exclusive to the AV variant) joins the existing palette of Granite Grey, Electric Blue, Glittering Silver and Ivory White.
“Perodua expresses our gratitude to all our valued customers, whose feedback helped us tweak the Aruz to better satisfy the real needs and wants of the majority of Malaysians,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.
“With well over 60,000 sold since its 2019 birth, the Perodua Aruz was already the nation’s best-selling SUV in 2019 and 2020, but, true to the principles of Kaizen, we believe there are always ways we can make our products incrementally better.
“This incremental adaptation of the Aruz is in line with the Perodua Smart Build blueprint; another example of our symbiotic collaboration with our suppliers to customise our products to better suit Malaysian needs and wants, and through this, developing further the capabilities of our suppliers towards true self-reliance,” he added.
An Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV), the Perodua Aruz offers space, safety, versatility, durability, practicality and low ownership costs in a compact, seven-seater package.
Its aluminium-block 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine collaborates with an electronically-controlled automatic transmission and Eco Idle to yield a rated fuel efficiency of up to 15.6 km/l, while its 60:40-split second and 50:50-split third rows can be slid, folded and tumbled for a multitude of seating and loading configurations.
With six airbags and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) as standard, plus the AV variant’s Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 suite of driver-assistance systems, the Perodua Aruz has a maximum five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. LED headlamps, 17-inch two-tone alloys, keyless entry and start, and a touch-screen infotainment system with reverse camera display are standard, while the AV exclusively gets auto headlamps, front fog lamps, leather seats, HDMI, Smart Link, navigation and an integrated driving video recorder.
“Of all our models, the Perodua Aruz benefitted the most from the government’s sales tax exemption – its prices dropped by 6%, or over RM4,000. So if you’ve been eyeing an Aruz, book now – the exemption is slated to end in under 60 days,” said Dato’ Zainal.
