The eccentric adventure scooter is made even more capable with these upgrades.
First launched in Malaysia in 2018, the Honda X-ADV has now been updated for the 2021 model year, giving the adventure scooter an improved engine performance and a fresh styling.
The 745cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC parallel two-cylinder is retained but it now produces 43 kW (54 hp) at 6,750 rpm and 69 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm, equalling an increase of 3 kW (4 hp) and 1 Nm over the previous model.
The six-speed dual-clutch transmission has also been tweaked with shorter ratios for the first, second and third gears for better acceleration, and taller fourth, fifth and sixth gear ratios for a more relaxed high-speed cruising and an improved fuel economy.
The X-ADV comes with four riding modes, namely Standard, Sport, Rain and Gravel, plus a customisable User mode. The Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system, which offers three levels of intervention, is said to be smoother this time around.
Incorporated into the X-ADV’s rider interface and viewed through the new 5-inch TFT display is the new Honda Smartphone Voice Control system (HSVCS), which enables the rider to manage phone calls, email, music and navigation via voice command. A helmet-mounted headset is needed to use this function.
As for the styling, Honda says each body panel of the X-ADV has been redesigned to create a sharper silhouette. The new look is further strengthened with the presence of twin LED headlights with LED daytime running lights (DRL) that automatically adjust to ambient light intensity.
On the practicality front, the X-ADV gains a new front screen, a new 1.2-litre glovebox, and a bigger (22 litre) under seat storage compartment which now houses a USB charging port. Lastly, a smart key eliminates the use of a key for ignition and to open the seat and fuel cap.
The 2021 Honda X-ADV is available in three colours – Pearl Deep Mud Grey, Grand Prix Red, and Graphite Black. Pricing starts from RM67,799 excluding road tax, insurance, and registration. Boon Siew Honda offers a two-year or 20,000 km manufacturing warranty.
