Just a day away from the restart of the Suzuki business.
Yes, the signboards are up, there is a fresh coat of paint and the flagship Suzuki 3S showroom and service center is ready. The previous DS showroom at the Naza Auto mall along the Federal Highway has been converted to become the all new Suzuki 3S showroom.
The first new Suzuki cars showroom after a few years of being away from Malaysia. At the back of the showroom is a brand new service center ready to take care of Suzuki customers.
The first Suzuki model to be introduced will be the popular Swift. For the past few years, Approved Permit holders have been importing used units from Japan in limited numbers.
Then when the much talked about all new Jimny was launched in Japan, the importers took a gamble to import a few units in, but their selling prices were very high.
Up to 9 months ago, there were still a few units being imported and their selling prices were not that favorable and Covid-19 reduced its demand. Till today, some of these units are sitting in reconditioned car showrooms in Taman Tun and Ampang.
With the announcement of the re-introduction of Suzuki Cars in Malaysia by Naza Eastern Motors Sdn Bhd reconditioned used car importers with stocks of the popular Jimny 4×4 will now be forced to reduce their very high asking price.
We spotted a 2019 model Suzuki Jimny Sierra in Jungle Green and with a rare 5-speed manual gearbox for sale at a lofty RM288,000 (pictured below) and right after our breaking news of the Suzuki showroom opening in March this year, the price dropped to RM169,000, which we think is still too expensive as there is no after sales, warranty or manufacturers recall if any.
The right selling price should be not more than RM99,900 as the previous model Jimny (pictured below) was launched in Malaysia, fully imported from Japan from just RM87,000 to RM92,000.
There are also a few units of the Suzuki Swift on sale in the classified. Prices hover between RM129,000 to RM132,000 for a 4-year-old 2017 model and this is the very same specification of the model to be launched tomorrow by Naza Eastern Motors for an estimated RM145,888.
Why would any sane person buy a used 4-year car for RM129k when the brand new model is just RM145k with full warranty and service package included.
So, its looks like the used Suzuki importers will have to slash their selling prices even more in coming weeks to clear their Suzuki stocks.
