Thanks to the power of social media, a man has been reunited with his Nissan Skyline R32 just two days after it was stolen.

According to a Facebook post by Zackjb Garage, who sold the Skyline to the current owner, the car was reported missing from the parking lot of a condominium in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur on Monday (September 14). The posting garnered more than 500 shares, thus helping the search effort get underway.

Due to its rarity, it did not take long for netizens to locate the blue Skyline. A day after it was stolen, the car was spotted at a traffic light junction somewhere in Jasin, Melaka. The car still had its original plate number at the time, suggesting that the thief was not aware that he/she was being hunted. We don’t know what happened after that but it would seem that the culprit managed to slip away and make a run for it.

Just when all hope seemed lost, the stolen Skyline was found abandoned in the parking lot of a condominium in Balakong on Wednesday (September 16). Judging from the pictures, the car seemed to be in a fine condition, bar the clamped left front wheel and missing rear wing. The thief also hilariously changed the number plate from AFF 90 to FAF 60 to avoid being detected. For that, we give him an E for effort.

The perpetrator did not get caught, which was a bit of an anticlimax of an otherwise thrilling saga, but at least the car was found in one piece, which has not been the case for many unlucky car owners out there who had lost their vehicles.

While we’re on the subject, here’s five easy ways to prevent your car from being stolen.
