Owners of private vehicles with an expired road tax not exceeding three years or 36 months will now be able to renew their road tax without having to undergo inspection at PUSPAKOM.
This was confirmed by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, who said the decision was made in response to requests from vehicle owners to alleviate their financial burden in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wee added that based on records, there are more than 4.27 million vehicles that were detected to have expired road tax of within one to three years.
Previously, private vehicle owners with expired road tax of within 12 months had to send their vehicles for inspection at PUSPAKOM before they are allowed to renew the road tax.
