In Thailand, Isuzu launched their 3rd generation D-Max pick-up truck late last year. This truck will form the basis of the next generation Mazda BT-50, so a lot of improvements have been made to satisfy both company’s requirements.
It seems that one area that Isuzu put a lot of effort into was safety. Earlier this year, this new D-Max was crash tested under ASEAN NCAP’s latest standards.
Heres’s the report summary:
The new Isuzu D-MAX performed impressively in the current 2017-2020 assessment with a total score of 83.16 points and was awarded with 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating. The D-MAX’s overall score was based from 42.72 points for AOP category, 21.83 points for COP and 18.61 points for Safety Assist Technologies (SATs).
Things to Note
- This is the 2nd pick-up truck to be submitted for ASEAN NCAP testing
- The first pick-up was the previous D-Max, which got 4-Stars under the previous assessment standard in 2014
- This was also the first vehicle to be tested in 2020 by ASEAN NCAP
- The crash test was carried out in Tokyo by the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI)
