Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador announced that all interstate travel will require permission from police during the Movement Control Order. According to police, anyone who wishes to travel to other states is required to submit an application to their respective police stations.
However, upon realizing how it has led to chaos at police stations nationwide, the top cop has decided to rescind the interstate travel regulation temporarily. According to multiple news outlets, a new decision will be made after a meeting today (March 18).
This means that for the time being, the public are free to travel anywhere within the country but in light of the worsening COVID-19 pandemic, which has recorded its first two fatalities yesterday, we strongly advise you to stay home and limit your travel.
To those who are planning to go back to your hometown, please be responsible and put your plan on hold in order to minimise human contact and curb the spread of the virus. You might think that you are not infected but bear in mind that the COVID-19 virus has proven to have a long incubation period and symptoms may not show until a few weeks later.
So if you stay put wherever you are, you are actually doing everyone a favour and ultimately saving the lives of the ones you love. Plus, now is the best time to use social media to interact and keep in touch with your family back in kampung.
