Touch ‘n Go eWallet Takes Over Penang

Penangites as well as tourists who are visiting The Pearl of the Orient will no longer need to bring their bulky wallets when shopping at the numerous bazaars and night markets in George Town, thanks to Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

The rollout of the cashless payment service means that customers can simply scan the QR code of the merchants to make a purchase at the stalls and hawker joints in the area.

According to TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, its foray into Penang is in line with the state government’s agenda of ‘Penang2030’ that focuses on improving the liveability, economy, civil participation and balanced development.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet began its venture in Penang in 2018, where it became a mode of payment for local startup brands, MULA and DeliverEat customers.

Homegrown small merchants such as hawker joints and mamak operators will benefit greatly from Touch ‘n Go eWallet as it would help them innovate and stay relevant in the current market landscape. Beyond that, we realised the importance of empowering local startups to cultivate a healthy and thriving business landscape and have established partnerships local, homegrown brands, MULA and DeliverEat.”
