Audi has finally unveiled their second model in the e-tron lineup, the e-tron Sportback. Offering up to 300 kW of power and a range of up to 446 km, the electric coupe SUV can be ordered as of the end of this month with a starting price of 71,350 Euros (RM329,727) in Europe.
The e-tron Sportback is 4,901 mm long, 1,935 mm wide and 1,616 mm high. Its roof extends flat over the muscular body, dropping down steeply to the rear and flowing into the steeply raked D-pillars.
Design details include standard matrix LED headlights, light platinum grey Singleframe grille with vertical struts, and a light strip that connects the rear LED lights to one another.
The sportier S line model gets a more distinctively contoured bumper with bigger air curtains, illuminated aluminum door sill trims with an S logo, rear spoiler, 20 inch wheels as well as sport air suspension.
With a wheelbase of 2,928 mm, the e-tron Sportback has ample space for five occupants along with their bags, while the rear headroom is just 20 mm less than in the original e-tron.
Including the 60-liter storage compartment underneath the hood that houses the vehicle tool kit and charging cable, the car offers a total of 615 liters of luggage capacity or 1,655 liters with the rear seat backrests folded down. The tailgate opens and closes electrically, by foot movement as an option.
As with all full-size class models from Audi, the e-tron Sportback also features the MMI touch response operating system with two displays – the upper 12.1-inch touch screen meant for the infotainment, navigation, and e-tron settings and the lower 8.6-inch display to input text and to operate the convenience functions and climate control.
Also included is the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit with a high resolution display of 1,920 x 720 pixels that can be switched between two views using the “View” button on the steering wheel.
The e-tron Sportback will be available in two variants, namely the 55 quattro and the 50 quattro. The former features two electric motors with a combined output of 265 kW and 561 Nm, enabling it to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.6 seconds and to reach top speed of 200 km/h.
What’s interesting is there is a boost mode that generates 300 kW and 664 Nm of torque for eight seconds, which shaves off the century sprint time by 0.9 seconds.
On the other hand, the e-tron Sportback 50 quattro generates 230 kW and 540 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 190 km/h. Thanks to a 71-kWh battery, it can cover up to 347 km on a full charge in the WLTP cycle.
On long-distance routes, the e-tron Sportback 55 quattro can charge with direct current (DC) at up to 150 kW at fast-charging stations, which can recuperate 80 percent of the battery capacity in under half an hour. The 50 quattro can charge at up to 120 kW and achieves an identical charge status in the same time.
As for safety, the e-tron Sportback comes standard with The Audi pre sense basic and Audi pre sense front safety systems. Also fitted is the Audi pre sense 360°, which detects collision hazards and initiates targeted protective measures from full braking to tensioning of the seat belts.
