Volvo S60 T8 Twin Engine R-Design Arrives in Malaysia – RM296k

The all-new Volvo S60 has finally been launched in Malaysia in a range-topping T8 Twin Engine R-Design variant. The sedan is priced at RM295,888 on-the-road without insurance and comes with a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty.

Riding on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, the S60 T8 Twin Engine features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Drive-E engine that drives the front axle and an electric motor that moves the rear axle.

Together, they produce a healthy total system output of 407 hp at 5,700 rpm and 640 Nm from 1,200 to 5,400 rpm. Thanks to an eight-speed automatic transmission and AWD, the sedan has the capability to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

A lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 11.6 kWh integrated into the transmission tunnel enables the S60 to drive as far as 49 km with electric power alone.

In terms of appearance, the S60 carries some R-Design goodies including sporty front and rear bumper designs, 19-inch alloy wheels, black window trim, black side mirrors as well as trapezoidal exhaust tips.

Inside, you’ll also find a range of R-Design equipment such as the steering wheel, pedals and seats. Like other current Volvo models, the S60 is fitted with a 9.0-inch touchscreen that provides access to the Sensus Connect infotainment system, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other features include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree around view monitor, Park Assist Pilot, dual-zone climate control system and a Harman Kardon audio system with 14 speakers.

As for safety, the sedan gets six airbags, Run-off Road Mitigation, Front and Rear Collision Warning and Mitigation Support, Driver Alert Control and Cross Traffic Alert. Also included is the City Safety feature that can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision.

For now, the S60 T8 Twin Engine R-Design is offered in Malaysia in CBU version imported from the United States. According to Volvo Car Malaysia, the locally assembled version will be offered starting next year.
