There’s a new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport on the cusp of being revealed. The teaser photos and videos all seem to indicate a very similar design language to the current Triton model.
In case you didn’t catch that, the Thai teaser trailer showed a few cool features.
You can see a lot of design parallels with the current Triton included the large chrome grille on the Dynamic Shield front as well as the squared off wheel arches and taillight design.
We’ll know more when the car officially debuts on the 25th of July 2019. It’ll definitely come to Thailand immediately, but whether it comes to Malaysia is still up in the air. Its primary competitor here is the Toyota Fortuner. But it also does battle against the Ford Everest and Isuzu MU-X.
As it is, none of these cars do extremely well in Malaysia. We’re not sure what the reason is but we can see some factors are as follows:
- Too closely related to pick-up trucks
- Generally large displacement petrol or diesel engines
- Large price gap between these and their pick-up truck equivalents
- Too many alternatives in the new and grey market that are better passenger moving SUVs or MPVs
