Good news for fans of the all new Suzuki Jimny and the Swift in Malaysia as News Straits Times newspaper business section has revealed that the Suzuki Motors Corporation is going to be working with Malaysian Tan Sri Vincent Tan’s Berjaya Group to revive Suzuki cars in Malaysia after a 3 year disappearance.
In the past year there has a number of rumours on the revival of Suzuki under various automotive groups and now we hear that Suzuki chairman Osamu Suzuki is meeting Tan Sri Vincent next month at the company’s headquarters in Hamamatsu, a city located in western Shizuoka prefecture and about 260km from Tokyo for the distributorship agreement.
With this revival of the brand, the Malaysian compact car market gets a boost in choice as the all new Jimny will be the hottest attraction in the showroom, followed by the all time favorite, the Swift.
So who will manage and run the new Suzuki business in Malaysia? Well, Tan Sri Vincent Tan already has Bermaz Motor which handles the fast growing and successful Mazda brand which means he has the right team to take the Suzuki brand to even greater heights in Malaysia.
Previous dealers should be eager to see the revival of the brand and the segment rivals will watching closely on the selling prices to worry or not.
