The future of performance mobility is another step closer as Porsche’s complete electric offering, the Taycan has been spotted uncovered and with production like detailing on a test drive in Shanghai China. Spotted driving along famous Shanghai landmarks and creating quite a stir among locals and also tourists, this new Porsche electric vehicle is powered by two (2) permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM) with a system output of over 600 hp (440 kW) that allows the Taycan driver to accelerate the electric sports car to 100 km/h in well under 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 200km/h in under twelve (12) seconds.
This performance is in addition to a continuous power level that is unprecedented among electric vehicles: Multiple jump starts are possible in succession without loss of performance, and the vehicle’s maximum range is over 500 km in accordance with the NEDC.
The Taycan has still not been officially presented to the public and is scheduled for a global presentation this coming September; nonetheless, there are more than 22,000 people around the world with serious interest in buying one of their own, as the company has confirmed bookings.
That is the number that has already registered to join a list of prospective buyers, where the registration requires a down payment of €2,500 (in Europe).
