On 26 August 1959, the British Motor Corporation (BMC) proudly revealed a car that captured the imagination of the world and revolutionised the compact car segment. Six decades later, in 2019 this little (modern versions are not so little anymore) car is still a favorite with many car owners and also non car drivers. Yes, the Mini appeals across the board and its success can be felt and seen in every country that it has been sold in.
This year, is its 60th birthday and the little and not so little modern Mini is celebrated in every country that has had it on the road. Malaysia is no exception as many young people/drivers love the new modern Mini models and we see plenty of old classic Mini’s restored to its glory and maybe not so glorious restoration.
The many ‘hand me down’ Mini’s are still running with the same family name on its ownership papers and at the historic city of Melaka, Malaysian Mini owners gathered to show their Minis.
There were also some owners who drove in from Singapore to be part of the celebration.
