Continental opened a new rubber compound mixing facility at its Alor Setar tyre plant yesterday. This facility is part of a 65 million Ringgit investment by the company and features state-of-the-art technology.
The new mixing facility takes up about 3200 square metres and will enable the company higher capacity and flexibility in its local production.
Continental’s Alor Setar factory has been operating since 1979 and employs over 1000 Malaysians in its operations. Its 40th anniversary is coming up later this year.

The technology company Continental today celebrated the inauguration a new state-of-the-art rubber compound mixing facility at its tire plant in Alor Setar Malaysia. Since 1979 Continental produces passenger and light truck tyres as well as two-wheel tires in Malaysia for the APAC market. The plant at Alor Setar currently employs more than 1000 people and will be celebrating its 40th anniversary at the end of this year.
Continental invested more than 65 mio MYR for the new mixing facility that will further enhance the manufacturing process by adding state-of-the-art rubber compound mixing technology locally.
Additional benefits of the new facility include an increase of its capacity and flexibility, thus strengthening tires production at the plant and adding to the local content portfolio, German Technology made in Alor Setar.
