The Mille Miglia is one of the most prestigious car races in the world, a fusion of tradition and innovation that is typical of Italy. In the ’50’s the Mille Miglia was described as the “most beautiful race in the world” by the most prominent figure in the world of motor sports, Enzo Ferrari.
During the 80’s while assisting in the race revival in the 80’s in Modena it was Ferrari who came up with probably the most apt description of the race,“a museum in motion, unique and charming, in a beautiful framework of jubilant visitors.”
The Mille Miglia is a race that blends Italian history, culture, creativity, charm and style with the stunning Italian landscape, to produce an event that appeals to not just motor enthusiasts but to every person with even a hint of a romantic nature.
This year’s race which started on the 15th of May and ended on the 18th of May saw the G. Moceri and D. Bonetti at the wheel of the 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS from FCA Heritage collection taking the podium 1st place.
The Mille Miglia (Thousand Miles) is an open-road, motorsport endurance race established in 1927 by the young Counts Aymo Maggi and Franco Mazzotti, which takes place in Italy.
Like the older Targa Florio and later the Carrera Panamericana, the MM made grand tourers like Alfa Romeo, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes Benz and Porsche famous. The race brought out an estimated five million spectators.
