0Mr. Bean auctioning another Mercedes-Benz 500 E
Rowan Atkinson, famously known as Mr. Bean, loves cars and is now selling yet again another Mercedes-Benz 500 E (yes he had 2 units and sold one unit earler)with a mileage exceeding 310,000 km.
The Distance
The 310,000 kilometers on his odometer is amazing seeing as this super busy actor has the time to drive his powerful W124 the distance. At the end of the 1980s and the early 1990s, the German brand was still considered a bastion of reliability and durability, experienced carmakers remembered with nostalgia for their millionaire mileage engines.
The W-Class
This E-Class model codenamed, the W124 is a true modern classic workhorse. In terms of reliability it was a real masterpiece and in our country, Malaysia it was adored, loved and many with cars still alive and running on our roads with little issues.
Ownership Details
The actor bought this new car in 1991, he used it for four years and then sold it. After 23 years, Atkinson decided to remember his youth, looked for the car he once owned and bought it back.
He is now selling this rare car by auction, an event to be held on May 25th in the Warwickshire Exhibition Center, which is located near the Royal Leamington Spa in the UK.
This is one of only 29 units sold officially in the UK, which has a left-hand steering wheel. In 2015 Rowan Atkinson other Mercedes-Benz 500 E which he had sold earlier at the Race Retro Classic Car Sale for the modest amount of 71,300 British pounds. The mileage at that time was just 80,500 km.
Keep in mind that the 500 E itself is a rarity, it is the dream of many collectors and car enthusiasts who would choose it to the detriment of some modern ones. The car was developed by Mercedes-Benz specialists and was assembled at the Porsche Zuffenhausen plant.
This sports sedan, which was called the “wolf in sheepskin”, is equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 326hp and 480Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 100km/h in just 6.1 seconds and was voted the fastest four-seater in the world at the time. The maximum speed it can reach is 260km/h where permitting.
