British car tuning company Redux Leichtbau recently presented a restomod with the assistance of a BMW M3 shoe horned into a classic BMW E30 bodywork. In the process of building the car, the company’s specialists applied a similar approach to the one used by the famous the Porsche restomod company, ‘Singer’ to create a modern analogy of the classic Porsche 911.
As a result, this E30 BMW now has a repaired and reinforced chassis, a more powerful engine, an adjustable suspension and a completely redesigned passenger compartment with a digital dashboard.
The restoration and tuning process of this M powered E30 starts with the complete analysis and disassembly of the body which, for this project must be “donated” by the E30 customer.
If a defective E30 car is provided, then Redux Leichtbau will take care to straighten the body, clean it out and revitalize it. For this, a series of custom metal components are used.
Under the hood the same process is done where they will install a S14 engine that has an increased volume from 2.3L to 2.5 liters with new pistons, a new radiator, a Motec control unit and a carbon fiber intake system, along with a newer and lighter battery and more.
At the request of the E30 customer, the car can also be equipped with a custom compressor turbo ready to produce 387hp and 528Nm of torque.
The chosen gearbox is a 5-speed manual with a lightweight clutch and works with a limited slip differential. On the chassis side there are also suspension interventions that have been completely replaced by a three-position EXE-TC adjustable three-position coil shock absorber (optional in four positions), the installation of new anti-roll stabilizers and AP Racing disc braking mechanisms 355 mm and six pistons in front, along with 330 mm and four pistons at the rear, among others.
The wheels are made of T-6061 forged aluminum and can be shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport / Sport 4 tires (slick or semi-slick are optional). Another option will be SICOM’s carbo-ceramic braking mechanisms, with 380 and 360 mm discs and four-piston calipers, along with ceramic brake pads.
Depending on the desire of the E30 customer, the E30’s interior can remain as factory original, or restored, or modified according to the customer’s preference. If you want a car that will be used daily for traveling, it is proposed to repair / replace the Recaro front seats, keep your rear seats and install a premium audio system.
Tuner Redux Leichtbau for now intends to make only 30 such cars. How much each restomod will cost is best discussed individually as the work done varies. Contact them if you need your E30 individualized and or if you have a basement filled with spare cash.
