Ford, who have committed to SUVs, trucks and the Mustang, have announced a new Kuga. To be fair, they actually announced a whole range of new Kuga and Escape models.
The Kuga will now be available in the following trim/equipment/model types:
- Titanium
- ST-Line
- Vignale
The following powertrain options will be available too:
- Plug-in Hybrid
- EcoBlue Hybrid (mild)
- Hybrid
- 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel
- 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel
- 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol
A new 8-speed automatic transmission will also be offered alongside these powertrain options.
The new Kuga gets a bunch of new high tech features, including Ford SYNC 3, an 8″ touchscreen, B&O Sound System, 12.3″ free-form LCD instrument cluster, Stop & Go, Speed Sign Recognition, Lane Centring technology, Active Park Assist 2 and a Heads-up Display.
Third 3rd generation Kuga is built on Ford’s new global C2 architecture which is 90kg lighter compared to previous model in spite of enhanced safety and torsional stiffness.
Its exterior sports a distinctive new design that is simplified, sculpted and sleeker than ever before. A longer bonnet, reclined rear windshield and low roofline characterise this new look.
Of course, each of the trim levels we mentioned earlier come with their own little design quicks and personalities.
The ST-Line’s look is of course the most sporty, athletic and interesting. Here you get body-coloured bumpers, side skirts, grille, skid plate, rear diffusor, roof rails, sports exhausts and more. The interior’s darker and more aggressive as well.
The previous Ford Kuga didn’t do spectacularly, given its fully-imported status. This one may not even make it to our shore, but wow does it look great in these first photos.
