Tesla may have the market cornered when it comes to electric sedans, but there’s space still for a Gran Turismo model.
That’s where the Italdesign DaVinci slots in perfectly. This design concept is an extremely elegant way of transporting 4 adults without burning a drop of petrol. There are electric motors on both axles with batteries forming part of the platform floor and chassis.
The DaVinci concept features gullwing doors wide enough for access to both front and rear seats. Without a radiator, the designers are able to do some interesting things with the shape of the car while still evoking traditional Italian GT designs.
The car is just shy of 5 metres long and 2.12m wide, so size was not a major compromise here. The asymmetrical dashboard is skewed towards the driver. There are 3 screens here. One on the instrument cluster, one on the dashboard and another above the central tunnel.
They worked with Alcantara to create a display surface capable of shining through the fabric itself. Towards the end of the central tunnel, the Alcantara fabric is full interactive with rear seat climate control buttons integrated into the upholstery itself.
With just a few adjustments, production could begin. The question is, which manufacturer is going to work with Italdesign on this?
