Just months after agreeing to fines from US and EU regulators, Volkswagen have decided the time was right to show the world this: a Toureg with a 4-litre TDI engine. But don’t worry, Volkswagen says this engine is compliant with Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standards. That means you can enjoy its incredibly high 421PS and 900Nm of torque without feeling morally bankrupt.
This huge new V8 option makes the Toureg a proper flagship for the Volkswagen brand. Fittingly, they’re giving this particular model air suspension, an electrically powered boot lid, comfort seats, and 19″ alloy wheels. There’s also a lot of driver safety and assistance features including Night Vision, Traffic Jam and Roadwork Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Assist and more.
Performance figures are extremely impressive, as you’d expect. It goes from 0-100km/h in just 4.9 seconds, faster than the Mercedes-AMG GLE53 does! They’ve even managed to include rear-wheel steering and electromechanical anti-roll bars. Very top notch stuff.
At the end of the day though, The 4-litre Toureg faces the same problem the Phaeton once did: very few people are going to fork out big money for a Volkswagen.
